Multiple compartments, good idea!
Multiple compartments, good idea!

Was one of your New Year’s resolutions to make your own lunch, instead of regularly buying from that expensive place opposite the office?

Well, hot on the heels of the Australian-made KeepCup, I’d like to praise the New Zealand-born Sistema lunchboxes.

Colourful, and recyclable to boot, these handy containers keep food airtight and reduce packaging as they can be re-used again and again.

You can pick from different colourful designs, and they all have the ultra-strong clip-close mechanism to keep food airtight.

But for me the best thing about them is the compartments – you can keep your snacks fresh and separate from your lunch, particularly good if lunch is a salad that takes up the bottom part. Or use one of the top compartments for a delicious dip like guacamole or humous.

Sistema also makes lots of other recyclable storage containers – from cereal jars to kid’s drinking cups.

Tip: if you don’t have time to wait for the next dishwasher run, rinse under hot water with an anti-bacterial washing up liquid like Dettol.
